Introducing our 2025 recipients of the Ray Huriwaka Scholarship.

We are extremely grateful and fortunate to have @walkspace_nz as our sponsor for these scholarships. Walkspace's director Bevan Thomas is a born and bred Kaipara local who is especially invested in removing financial barriers to enable local ballers to work towards their dreams.

This year we could not think of two more deserving recipients. Both players are willing to do the extras in the early morning to progress their skills and are great team players and role models for other tamariki.

@georgia_barnes23- Has played for Kaipara for the last 4 years. She grinds every day to become a better player. She has already attended NZ Camps and currently represents North Harbour and Mahurangi College. The future is bright for this one.

Ethan Barlow - EB is a tireless worker who has played for Kaipara for the last four years. Much loved by his teammates, EB is a dependable presence in the Kaipara Basketball Community. EB currently represents Otamatea High School Premier team and the Northland United 16 Northland Premier team. Ethan is currently in the midst of an ongoing growthspurt.
